Design principle

The perfect session lasts five minutes.

NO SWIPES / 24-HOUR CHATS / PLANS FOR TODAY

Context

Social apps are built to keep you scrolling. Actually meeting someone — the one thing they promise — keeps getting moved to next week.

Approach

No swiping and no matching: you send a request, and they decide. Chats disappear after 24 hours, so making a plan beats small talk. Activities happen today — a coffee, a walk, a gallery — not three weeks from now.

Outcome

In beta on TestFlight, with a waitlist at nowhereapp.io and a marketing site with three WebGL portals. Success is measured by how quickly you put your phone down.

START SOMETHING

Curiosity beats another swipe.

See who viewed you, then choose whether to reach out. A request replaces the swipe: one person starts the conversation, the other decides.

NOSY, BUT POLITE

MAKE A PLAN

The chat has an expiry date.

After 24 hours, the chat disappears. A coffee, a walk or a gallery visit today gives the conversation somewhere to go beyond the screen.

App Store screen: “Meet before the chat expires”, beside a cartoon bomb.

GO OUTSIDE

A small doorway to the real world.

The website and waitlist introduce the same idea: Meet Now Here. The app is in TestFlight beta, with a public waitlist for what comes next.

Two phones: the Nowhere website, “Meet Now Here.”, and the waitlist page beside it.
